08-31-21 BMRC adopted minutesr0-" ,,, MINUTES tj Board Member Review Committee (BMRC) Meeting v Tuesday, August 31, 2021 - 6:30 PM r;: City Hall, Commission Chamber ROLL CALL: Present: Brittany Norris, Mayor Pro Tem/ Commissioner - Seat 5 Stephen Ditamore, Committee Member Pamela White, Committee Member Mark Gabrynowicz, ESC Chair, District 1307 Member Absent: Kenneth Reeves, Committee Member Also Present: Donna Bartle, City Clerk (CC) CALL TO ORDER Commissioner Norris called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. Approve minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting held on July 29, 2021. MOTION: Approved minutes of July 29, 2021 as written. Motion: Stephen Ditamore Second: Pamela White Stephen Ditamore (Moved By) For Pamela White (Seconded By) For Brittany Norris For Motion passed 3 to 0. 2.INTERVIEW CANDIDATES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP Commissioner Norris clarified that Mr. Hudson's district is 1306, not 1308, which means both candidates are being considered for the At-Large vacancy. ESC Chair Mark Gabrynowicz mentioned wanting to discuss district membership solutions. Commissioner Norris agreed to discuss the topic later in the meeting. Board Member Review Committee(BMRC) August 31,2021 2.A. Christopher McHan The Committee interviewed Mr. McHan. He explained his personal accomplishments, experience, interests, and knowledge of our city government and answered questions from the Committee. The Committee offered the opportunity to ask questions and the Committee responded to those questions. Since there was extra time between the interviews, the Committee wanted to begin discussions about districting. Commissioner Norris requested a motion to move the item up. MOTION: Move Other Business up to address at this time. OTHER BUSINESS ESC Chair Gabrynowicz suggested moving a current At-Large member residing in District 1308 to the District 1308 Member position in order to free up an At-Large Member position. The Committee discussed the concept and expressed interest in determining whether it is possible and what the process would be. 2. INTERVIEW CANDIDATES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP (CONTINUED) B. Robert Hudson The Committee interviewed Mr. Hudson. He explained his personal accomplishments, experience, interests, and knowledge of our city government and answered questions from the Committee. The Committee offered the opportunity to ask questions and the Committee responded to those questions. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no public speakers. 4. DISCUSS CANDIDATES AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS The Committee discussed both candidates and commented on Mr.Hudson's travel commitments and availability for meetings. Motion: Pamela White Second: Stephen Ditamore Brittany Norris For Stephen Ditamore (Seconded By) For Pamela White (Moved By) For Mark Gabrynowicz For Motion passed 4 to 0. 5.OTHER BUSINESS (CONTINUED) The Committee continued the discussion on ESC Chair Gabrynowicz's suggestion. Commissioner Norris explained her plan to discuss options with the city attorney, attend an ESC meeting for feedback on the idea, and follow up with the city clerk.
