AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, AMENDING CHAPTER 2,
ADMINISTRATION, AMENDING SECTION 2-51 TO PROVIDE FOR
THE REMOVAL OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE BY THE DIRECTOR
OF PUBLIC SAFETY, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Chapter 2, Article IV, Division 2, Section 2-51 is hereby
amended to read as follows
CHAPTER 2. ADMINISTRATION
ARTICLE IV. DEPARTMENTS
DIVISION 2. POLICE DEPARTMENT
Section 2-51. Chief of Police - Appointment, Compensation, Removal.
The Chief of Police shall be the head of the Police Department and shall
be appointed and removed by the Director of Public Safety, subject to
the approval of the City Commission. He shall receive such compensation
as determined by the City Commission.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its adoption.
