Building and Fire Review Comments
#1 Please provide a Type II exhaust hood over induction burners, per FBC-M 507.3, or provide
other exhaust requirements found in 507.3.
Response: Per mechanical code section 507.3, a type II hood is not required to exhaust non
grease laden cooking equipment as long as the loads are incorporated into the HVAC system
design. The changes to the drawings include:
1. Added kitchen equipment list to confirm cooling capacities in the prep, sales area,
where the equipment is installed.
2. Provided equipment sizing load calculations.
3. Added existing equipment capacity to the AHU and heat pump schedule.
4. Rebalanced the airflows near the prep sales area.
5. Added location of existing HPU.
#2 Please see Fire Marshal comments regarding 2-hour fire-rated walls. Both Building and Fire
comments must be addressed.
1. Business to mercantile needs 2 hour rate wall 10 unit to 9 unit.
2. Restaurant with less than 50 people is MERCANTILE
3. occupancy load is 30

was updated. Occupancy Load factor was updated.
