When my husband and I moved to Atlanti c Beach in 1995, I had my own business, Ki ndermusi k, that I had
started in Northern V irgini a. I taught this private music group program for toddlers throughout the beaches
for 2 years. After getting my real estate li cense, I was a realtor wi th Watson. Several years later, I worked at
the Mayo C li nic as an insurance admini strator unti l my reti rement i n 2015. For thi s appli cation, however, I
believe my volunteer work wi th the Atlantic Beach P reservation group is more relevant. As Chai r of AB P, I
have worked with Mayors, C ommi ssioners, C i ty Managers, C i ty Planners, the Publi c Works D ept and
ci tizen boards and commi ttees on a variety of issues. Not only have I learned about the inner worki ngs of
our city government, I have learned the details of many of our codes and regulations.. Fi rst, a li ttle
background about Atlantic Beach Preservati on. In August 2016, after a group of more than 40 Atlanti c
Beach citi zens met to discuss forming a communi ty organizati on to provi de informati on on ci ty i ssues,
Atlantic Beach P reservation was formed and tasked wi th the mission “....to inform and promote citizen
parti cipati on i n our city government to ensure the preservati on of our communi ty’s quali ty of li fe.â€
Si nce its formation, AB Preservati on has presented programs for the community includi ng: *Hurri canes &
Our Beaches *Mayport Redevelopment C RA *Parking: Publi c Access vs Private Interest *A quati c Gardens
& Storm Water Improvement *All About Trees: Protecting Our Tree C anopy *Revi ew of Proposed Land Use
C odes *Mayport Road S afety *S afe Routes to School My six years as C hai r of A B Preservation has
enabled me to know not only how our ci ty works, but to form relationships with the ci ty staff and
commissi oners. I believe that our joint efforts have resulted in many good resoluti ons and code changes
that have been benefici al to our community.

Si nce movi ng here 27 years ago, A tlantic B each has become my hometown. I have been very acti ve in the
community to preserve the uni queness and quali ty of li fe our ci ty offers for years. A s C hai r of A B
Preservation, I have knowledge of how our ci ty government works that can be helpful to the C harter Revi ew
C ommi ttee. B ecause of my volunteer involvement, I can bring many ideas to the table from other citi zens as
well. In additi on, I have reviewed the vi deo meeting of the last C R C ommittee and found i t helpful in knowi ng
what changes have been enacted to our Charter and the reasons behi nd those changes. That gives me a
perspective to changes that have already been discussed and possi ble areas that would need to be
tweaked. I love my hometown, Atlanti c Beach, and I would be honored to be appoi nted to the Charter
Revi ew C ommi ttee.
