RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH
RECOGNIZING NANCY DECANDIS AND ROSEMARY FLETCHER,
THE CO-CHAIRPERSONS OF FIRST NIGHT, ATLANTIC BEACH, AND ALL
MEMBERS OF THE FIRST NIGHT STEERING COMMITTEE AND VOLUNTEERS
WHEREAS, First Night, a community celebration for all ages, has been
successfully held for two consecutive New Year's Eve, 1996 and 1997; and
WHEREAS. First Night offers an evening of music, dance, theater, storytelling,
street artists, and more, including opportunities for audience participation; and
WHEREAS, the activities offered by First Night represent multi-generational
themes appealing to people of all ages and cultures and encourages families to celebrate
New Years Eve together; and
WHEREAS, The First Night Steering Committee and volunteers, under the
leadership of its two Co-Chairpersons, Nancy DeCandis and Rosemary Fletcher,
performed an outstanding job in the organization, planning and fulfillment of the event;
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager expressed that the First Night group and its
chairpersons worked with City Staff in a professional and exemplary manner, thus
making Staffs participation easier than expected in the normal business of conducting a
major event held within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Atlantic Beach City
Commission expresses deep appreciation to Nancy DeCandis and Rosemary Fletcher, all
members of the First Night Steering Committee, and all those who helped support the
First Night event for their creativity, time, and hard work which made it possible for
residents and visitors alike to enjoy the celebration.
Adopted by the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, this 26th day
of January, 1998.
