CITY OF /*14 is i each - 96vrc 4 • s, .tea` RP mutton No. 98-29 WHEREAS, On Saturday, July 25, 1998, at 12:31 p. m. there was a lightning strike on the beach which injured three persons, one person being critically injured; and WHEREAS, the following Lifeguards responded to this terrible and dangerous situation, administering life sustaining CPR to a victim who was in cardiac arrest, and administering to others who were injured: Kimberly Gold John Phillips George Hodson William Posch Patrick Kring Bradley Reckamp Tommy Lee Kenneth Reeves • Patrick McCauley Suzette Sheldon James McDaniel James Stratmann WHEREAS, life sustaining efforts were continued by these Lifeguards until Jacksonville Fire/Rescue arrived to take over the care of the critical patient; and WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes that these Lifeguards, by rushing to the assistance of the victims, and remaining with the victims, put their own lives in jeopardy by placing themselves in danger of being struck by lightening. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, does hereby express its heartfelt thanks to the Lifeguards of the City of Atlantic Beach and to Lifeguard Barret Englert of the City of Neptune Beach for their quick and unselfish response. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution of recognition and appreciation be spread upon the official minutes of the City of Atlantic Beach and a certified copy hereof be furnished to the Lifeguards referenced above.
