A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA HONORING
CARL E. WALKER FOR HIS NINE YEARS OF SERVICE AS BEAUTIFICATION
COORDINATOR FOR THE CITY AND CITIZENS OF ATLANTIC BEACH
WHEREAS, Carl E. Walker served as Beautification Coordinator for nine years with the
City; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure Carl was instrumental in providing beautification to Atlantic
Beach in many ways. He helped create the matching fund program for beautification of the city's
street ends which resulted in many attractive and picturesque parcels of land throughout the city,and
he spearheaded grant applications which provided funding for tree planting within our community;
and
WHEREAS, he served as staff liaison in a most professional and proficient manner to the
Tree Conversation Board,the Beautification Committee,the Cultural Arts Board,and the First Night
Committee. He was always available and helpful, on a day-to-day basis, to citizens,board members,
employees, and the general public; and
WHEREAS,because of Carl's hard work and diligence,Atlantic Beach received recognition
as a TREE CITY USA on several occasions,thus joining an elite number of communities throughout
the United States who provide a beautiful community for its residents; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career he has assisted and coordinated with citizens in
beautification projects which resulted in the City of Atlantic Beach becoming a more attractive and
charming place to live.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:.
SECTION 1. The City Commission and Citizens of Atlantic Beach extend their most
heartfelt appreciation to Carl E. Walker for his many years of outstanding service to our Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution of recognition and
appreciation be spread upon the official minutes of the City of Atlantic Beach and a certified copy
hereof be furnished to Carl E. Walker.
Adopted by the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida, this 14th day of September,
1998.
