A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
APPROVING THE CONTRACTING OF INSPECTIONS FOR THE
BUILDING DEPARTMENT THROUGH A CERTIFIED INSPECTION COMPANY
WHEREAS, Florida Statute 468.607 requires that"No person may be employed by a state agency
or local government authority to perform the duties of a building code administrator, plans examiner, or
inspector after October 1, 1993 without possessing the proper valid certificate issued in accordance with the
provisionis of this part",AND 468.617(2) "Nothing in this part shall prohibit local governments from
employing persons certified pursuant to this part to perform inspections on a contract basis", and
WHEREAS, it is hereby determined by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
that the City has need from time to time to perform additional building inspections, and
WHEREAS, state law requires the City use only certified inspectors.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida
hereby declares its approval to engage in a limited contract with an approved, certified inspection company
for a period not to exceed one year with a one-year renewal period, AND,
The City hereby agrees to fund said inspections from the FY 1995-1996 budget.
This Resolution shall take effect upon its adoption.

CONTRACT SERVICES AGREEMENT
This agreement is made and executed this 12th day of
March , 19 96 by and between the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida,
a Municipal Corporation (hereinafter referred to as City) , and Certified Home
Inspection Services, Inc. , a Florida corporation, (hereinafter referred to as
Contractor) 4035 Huntington Forest Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32257.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS MUTUALLY AGREED AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City agrees to retain Contractor to assist the Building Official
in the City of Atlantic Beach.
2. Contractor agrees to use its expertise and best efforts in performing
the responsibilities of building inspections.
3. In consideration for the above services rendered by Contractor as set
forth in paragraphs 1 and 2, the City agrees to pay Contractor the sum not to
exceed $18.00 per inspection paid by-weekly which shall constitute full and
complete compensation for all services rendered. The City shall agree to allow
a minimun of three inspections per visit by Contractor. The City shall not
reimburse Contractor for any travel expenses.
4. This contract may be terminated by either party hereto by giving thirty
(30) days written notice to the other party.
5. Contractor's performance under this agreement shall commence on the 4th
day of March, 1996, and continue until the 28th day of February, 1997, unless
extended by the mutual agreement of the parties, or unless this agreement is
terminated sooner in accordance with the provisions set forth in paragraph 4
above.
6. The provisions of this agreement are severable, and if any part of it
is found to be unenforceable, the other paragraphs shall remain fully valid and
enforceable. This agreement shall survive the termination of any agreements
contained herein.
7. This agreement sets forth the entire agreement between the parties
hereto, and fully supersedes any and all prior agreements and understandings
between the parties hereto pertaining to the subject matter hereof.

unexpended, unencumbered and unimpounded balance in the appropriation sufficient
