A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH IN
SUPPORT OF THE FIRST ANNUAL GREATER
JACKSONVILLE OFFSHORE GRAND PRIX FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, the Professional Racing Owner' s Powerboat Series
( P.R.O.P.S. ) organizes and produces the premier powerboat racing
series; and
WHEREAS, P.R.O.P.S. has selected Florida ' s First Coast
including Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and
Ponte Vedra as the site of the Greater Jacksonville Offshore Grand
Prix Festival on August 25-28, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the excitement, economic impact, national exposure
and family entertainment will benefit the entire first coast area;
and
WHEREAS, P.R.O. P. S. produces responsible, safe and
environmentally aware events; and
WHEREAS, community and governmental support is essential in
order to conduct an event of this magnitude; and
WHEREAS, a successful Greater Jacksonville Offshore Grand Prix
Festival will result in an annual special event which will benefit
P. R.O. P.S. and the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the
City of Atlantic Beach, as follows:
Section 1 . That the City of Atlantic Beach
enthusiastically endorses the Greater Jacksonville Offshore Grand
Prix Festival as an event of importance and benefit to our area.
Section 2. That the City of Atlantic Beach encourages the
cooperation of necessary governmental agencies, community
organizations, corporate sponsors and volunteers to lend support to
this exciting first annual event.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final
passage and adoption.
