A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH
ENCOURAGING CONGRESS TO SAVE THE SARATOGA BY
PRESERVING IT AS A HISTORICAL MONUMENT AND
MUSEUM IN JACKSONVILLE
WHEREAS, the Saratoga and its Crews have faithfully protected
our Country for more than thirty years , and
WHEREAS, Mayport served as the home port for the Saratoga for
much of its active duty life , and
WHEREAS, there are many residents of Jacksonville and the
Beaches who served on the Saratoga, and
WHEREAS, it is extremely important for our Country to
preserve its Naval Heritage,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the
City of Atlantic Beach as follows :
Section 1 . The City of Atlantic Beach wishes to express to
our members of Congress - Senator Graham and Senator Mack,
Congresswoman Fowler, State Representative Arnall , and Members of
the Duval Delegation its desire for the Saratoga to be saved.
Section 2 . The City of Atlantic Beach requests that our
members of Congress and State Representative take all action
necessary to save the Saratoga.
Adopted by the City Commission of Atlantic Beach, Florida this 23rd
day of May, 1994.
