A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA SUPPORTING FUNDING FOR THE FLORIDA
RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature appropriates funds to the Florida
Department of Natural Resources to award grants-in-aid to local governments
to acquire or develop land for public outdoor recreation purposes through
the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program.
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida has applied for grants-
in-aids from the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program to develop
lands for public outdoor recreation purposes, and plans to continue to apply.
WHEREAS, grants-in-aid for the acquisition or development of lands for
outdoor recreation purposes have not been awarded to local governments through
the Florida Recreation Development Assistance program since fiscal year 90-91
because of budget shortfalls within the Florida Department of Natural Resources
Florida Park Service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
ATLANTIC BEACH:
Section 1 That the City Commission supports funding for the Florida Recreation
Development Assistance Program to assist local governments in acquiring or
developing land for public outdoor recreation purposes.
Section 2 That the City Commission requests that the Florida Legislature
appropriate funds for the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program for
the purpose of acquiring or developing land for public outdoor recreation
purposes in fiscal year 1993-94
Section 3 That the City Commission requests that the Florida Department of
Natural Resources award funds appropriated by the Florida Legistature for
local governments through the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program
to acquire or develop land for public outdoor recreation purposes.
