6-10-24 Handout - Dan Frankel - Petitions to prohibit on-street parking on 2nd StreetPetition to the Atlantic Beach City Commission
a 6) cco-nY--)21
PRINT NAME
As a resident/property owner in the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, I respectfully request
the Atlantic Beach City Commission prohibit on street parking on 2nd Street from Sherry
Drive to and including Beach Avenue and restore the roadway for two-way traffic as it was
originally platted.
This petition to prohibit on street parking for the entire length of 2nd Street is for the
following reasons:
1) This street was originally platted for two-way traffic, but the City of Atlantic Beach
administration has failed to take action to maintain the two-way traffic pattern. Due to the
current volume of traffic traveling on this narrow roadway, the present practice of allowing
vehicles to be parked on the street is limiting traffic flow to one lane, thus, increasing
congestion and producing a hazardous situation that is becoming worse as the population
and traffic flow continues to increase.
2) Granting parking on the street hinders Emergency Vehicle Response. There are often
times that a Fire truck or EMS vehicle have been unable to pass through the street.
3) On street parking causes a decrease in visibility of on -coming traffic for residents
attempting to leave their homes that could create a collision risk with passing vehicles.
4) Allowing vehicles to be parked on the street generates a backing hazard for residents
leaving their driveways as they have to avoid hitting a parked vehicle at the end of the
driveway when backing onto the roadway.
5) Parked vehicles on a narrow street produce a visual obstruction causing a hazard for
small children and pets who cannot be seen by passing drivers, considering Atlantic Beach
Elementary school is located on 2nd Street and Sherry Drive and no sidewalks are furnished
on 2nd Street.
6) Congestion of the "Town Center" area has resulted in 2"d Street being used as a parking
alternative. This situation causes a decrease in quality of life for Atlantic Beach residents
needing the use of a public street for which they are paying taxes.
We, the undersigned, appreciate the time that you have extended us. Please remember
that you were elected to oversee the development and future needs of Atlantic Beach and
provide for the care and well-being of its residents.

Elementary school is located on 2"d Street and Sherry Drive and no sidewalks are furnished
on 2nd Street.
6) Congestion of the "Town Center" area has resulted in 2"d Street being used as a parking
alternative. This situation causes a decrease in quality of life for Atlantic Beach residents
needing the use of a public street for which they are paying taxes.

Asa resident/property owner in the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, I respectfully request
the Atlantic Beach City Commission prohibit on street parking on 2nd Street from Sherry
6) Congestion of the "Town Center" area has resulted in 2nd Street being used as a parking
alternative. This situation causes a decrease in quality of life for Atlantic Beach residents
