GEORGE BULL, a member of a pioneer Beach family whose real estate holdings.
shaped the development of Atlantic Beach, died on Tuesday, March 17, 1992. Mr.
null was the son of Harcourt Bull who was appointed as the first Mayor of Atlantic
Beach in 1924.
GEORGE BULL was a registered real estate broker and developer and was
responsible for the development of all of the Selva Marina subdivision units which
was recognized as one of the finest residential areas in Florida. He, together
with his brother, Harcourt Bull, Jr. , were founding Charter members of the Selva
Marina Country Club, and donated all the land necessary for its development. They
also gave to Duval County the old railroad right-of-way across the Intracoastal
Waterway which is now being considered for the Wonderwood Road Expressway, thereby
saving the taxpayers untold thousands of dollars. They also gave to the City of
Atlantic Beach the land where our fire station stands and the site for the
Eleventh Street water works. Mr. Bull was always ready to give his time for the
betterment of Atlantic Beach. Mr. Bull also developed communities and
condominiums in Tallahassee, Tampa, Orlando, and Fort Walton Beach.
GEORGE BULL was a Past President of the Jacksonville Beaches Board of
Realtors, Jacksonville Beaches Chamber of Commerce, and a member of St. Pauls by
the Sea Episcopal Church.
Mr. Bull is survived by his widow, Mary Traylor Bull of Atlantic Beach, three
sons; George Bull, Jr. of Atlantic Beach, Richard T. Bull of Ponte Vedra Beach,
and Charles H. Bull of Delray Beach; two daughters, Beverly Wildt of Ponte Vedra
Beach, and Chelly Schembers of Pensacola, two nephews, five grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, AS FOLLOWS:
1 . The Mayor-Commissioner, the Commissioners, officers and employees of the City
of Atlantic Beach, Florida, do hereby express our profound and sincere
appreciation for the life and services of George Bull, and we hereby express
to his family our most sincere sympathy.
2. That a true copy of this Resolution be made a part of the permanent records
of the City of Atlantic Beach, and that the original, duly inscribed by the
Mayor-Commissioner, Commissioners and Officers of the City of Atlantic Beach,
be forwarded to Mr. Bull's widow.
