RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR FULL
PARTICIPATION OF AMERICAN INDUSTRY
IN THE PROVISION OF TELECOMMUNICA-
TIONS EQUIPMENT AND SERVICE, EXCEPT
FOR CABLE TELEVISION
WHEREAS, more competition in the telephone equipment market place
will benefit cities through lower prices, and
WHEREAS, allowing the Bell Operating Companies to manufacture
telephone equipment may increase domestic jobs in our cities, and
WHEREAS, freeing the Bell Operating Companies from the information
services, except for cable television, restrictions will increase the
availability of new and innovative services to serve our citizens, and
WHEREAS, permitting the Bell Operating Companies to provide a
full-range of information services, except for cable television, will
increase the availability of educational resources via communications for
the schools in our counties.

Section 1. That the Congress carefully study the impact of new
technologies while updating the national
