Glasser - Withdrawal Letter 10-2-24October 2, 2024 From: Ellen Glasser, Candidate for Atlantic Beach, Seat 1, Mayor P.O. Box 330510 Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 To: Ms. Donna Bartle, City Clerk City of Atlantic Beach 800 Seminole Rd. Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 Dear Ms. Bartle, /RECEIVED 4 OCT -12024 After careful consideration, I have made the decision to withdraw as a candidate for Atlantic Beach, Seat 1, Mayor, effective immediately. Many will want to know the "why" behind this decision. It's very simple. Over the last few months, l have had some serious medical challenges which have resulted in extremely reduced stamina. It is not anything terminal, however it's something that does not seem to be going away in the near term. I ask for privacy concerning the details, please. Although my unwavering desire to serve as Atlantic Beach mayor again has not changed, my body is not cooperating. I cannot, physically and in good conscience, continue to campaign in the way that's necessary to win. And even more important, if these medical challenges persist, I will not be in the position to serve the City of Atlantic Beach with the energy, focus, stamina and dependability required to be the best mayor I can be. I am not going anywhere! I have such gratitude for the time I served as mayor, for everyone on the City of Atlantic Beach staff, and for the support I've had from so many throughout this election cycle. I will continue to pay close attention to city affairs, and work with the new commission, city staff, and other caring community members in any productive way I can to continue to help preserve and improve the Atlantic Beach we all know and love. For those working the election, please accept this as formal notice of my immediate withdrawal as a candidate from the 2024 election for Seat 1, Mayor, Atlantic Beach, FL. I will work with you to complete any formal actions required as a result of my withdrawal as a candidate. Sincerely and With Gratitude, 614oe-, Ellen Glasser, Candidate for Atlantic Beach, Seat 1, Mayor CC: Jerry Holland, Duval County Supervisor of Elections
