03-18-21 CARAC Minutes-Approved 06-08-21Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee (CARAC) March 18, 2021 MINUTES Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee (CARAC) Meeting Thursday, March 18, 2021 - 6:00 PM Commission Chamber Present: An Oskarsson, Member Jane Stevens, Member Mateo Jurasic, Member Mauricio Gonzalez, Member Carol Silcox, Member Eastman Curtis, Chair of Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee Absent: Also Present: Timmy Johnson, Dir. of Rec. & Spec. Events 1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The meeting was called to order 6:05 pm by Chair Curtis. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. Approve minutes of the December 1, 2020 Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting. 3. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS The Chair recognized Marjorie Williams. 4. ONGOING BUSINESS A. Inside Out Art Project The committee discussed the Inside Out Project and recommends the following: • How do you Celebrate as the theme. • City parks and Beaches Town Center as the locations. B. Contribution Guidelines Timmy and An will work together on the process and will send it out to the committee for review. 5. NEW BUSINESS A. Mayor Glasser • Liaison between the Commission and Committee - The Mayor reported that she is the liaison to the committee and if anyone has any questions they could reach out to her. • Livability Priority - The Mayor discussed the commission's livability priorities and ask Timmy to email the full list to the committee. Those committee members that would like to be involved are to contact the Mayor. • Art Republic Murals - This program is not running through the committee and if there's going to be a role, it hasn't been carved out yet. Local artist will intern with International artist to install the murals. • ABYC Update - The Atlantic Beach Youth Council falls under the committee and has been working on several projects. They have been meeting monthly. • Enlarging the Baker Center - The city is exploring enlarging the Baker Center to accommodate more activities and programs. • Program Needs for Centers - Mayor Glasser suggest having the Center Directors report to the committee on program needs. B. Citywide Survey - Jane Jane reported on a draft survey that she put together for the committee's review. She reached out to five different families. C. Meeting Frequency - Jane The committee discussed the need for additional meetings. If there's a need, the committee will schedule a special meeting. 6. OTHER AGENDA ITEMS/ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Next regular meeting is scheduled for June 8, 2021. B. Agenda items for next meeting. 7.
