Resolution No. 25-04RESOLUTION NO. 25-04 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE REALLOCATE $500,000 IN ITS FIVE-YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN TO FUND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH'S FUTURE COMMUNITY CENTER IN MARSH OAKS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE ORDERS TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach and the Consolidated City of Jacksonville have an excellent history of working in harmony, particularly in recent years; and WHEREAS, in its Five -Year Capital Improvement Plan, the City of Jacksonville allocated $500,000 for the expansion of Gail Baker Community Center in Donner Park for the purpose of expanding programming to children, adults and seniors; and WHEREAS, the City's community center facility -improvement needs have shifted due to two key developments: The City's purchase of the future Marsh Oaks community center location and the City of Atlantic Beach's partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, which now operates the City of Atlantic Beach's after-school and summer youth programming at Gail Baker Center in Donner Park and Jordan Community Center in Jordan Park; and WHEREAS, the City's greatest community center facility -improvement requirement is now at the City's newly acquired Marsh Oaks community center, which will serve children, adults, seniors and veterans, and needs extensive renovation; and WHEREAS, the future Marsh Oaks community center will serve to protect and improve the health, safety, welfare and quality -of -life for Atlantic Beach residents and other Consolidated City of Jacksonville residents nearby who lack access to programming. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach that, to improve the health, welfare, and quality -of -life for Atlantic Beach residents and other Consolidated City of Jacksonville residents nearby who lack access to programming, the City of Atlantic Beach respectfully requests that: SECTION 1. The City of Jacksonville reallocate $500,000 in its Five -Year Capital Improvement Plan to fund improvements to the City of Atlantic Beach's future community center in Marsh Oaks. SECTION 2. Authorizing the City Manager to execute contracts and purchase orders to effectuate the provisions of this resolution. SECTION 3. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4.
