A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH AUTHORIZING
THE EXPENDITURE OF UP TO $45,000 FOR THE PURCHASE OF A 2024
GMC SIERRA PICKUP TRUCK FOR THE ANIMAL CONTROL
DIVISION; AUTHORIZING THE UTILIZATION OF UNUSED FUNDS
BUDGETED FOR POLICE SALARIES IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-25
BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING THIS PURCHASE;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS
AND PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, each year the Atlantic Beach Police Department evaluates the number and
condition of the vehicles in its fleet to ensure that they are safe and effective to be used for public
safety activities during routine service and in response to emergency situations; and
WHEREAS, the Animal Control truck is beyond being repair -worthy and must be replaced
to meet minimum daily public service requirements; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department can purchase and outfit vehicles from one or more
State of Florida purchasing contracts or secure favorable pricing and terms of contract from other
vendors; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department has determined that one Animal Control truck should
be purchased; and
WHEREAS, a 2024 GMC Sierra can be purchased from a local dealership and outfitted
for approximately $45,000; and
WHEREAS, the funds necessary for this purchase are available from unused funds
budgeted for police salaries in the FY 2024-25 Police Department budget 0012002 521 12 00, that
will be transferred to 001 2005 562 46 01 to make this purchase.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the expenditure of up to $45,000
for the purchase of a 2024 GMC Sierra pickup truck with unused funds budgeted for police
salaries in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget.
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute
contracts and purchase orders in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions
of this Resolution.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
