~', k~RE.AS, William S. Howell has served as an elected Commissioner
of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, from 1956: through 1957; was
elected 2.layor-Commissioner from 1957 through 1961-and again elected
Mayor-Commissioner in-1965 and served the City of Atlantic Beach in
that capacity through 19E1, and
WHEREAS, William S. Howell on behalf of the City of Atlantic
Beach, Florida, has obtained the honored position of President of the
Florida League of Cities, a state organization of over 300 Florida
municipalities, and
W~REAS, William S. F~well did serve so effectively and efficiently
and gave Est generously of his time and energy for the benefit of the
citizens of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and
j~REAS, William S. Howell has won the respect of his colleagues
and fellow citizens by the capable and effectual manner in discharging
the responsibilities of his official position, and
jti~REAS, kTilliam S. Howell, in addition to the above, has served
lus com:rnnZity as a leader in religious, environmental, health and other
civic activities and has, «ithout fail, consistently put the interests
of this City before those of himself, and
WHEREAS, the influezlce that William S. Howell has had upon the
~~ development in this City, of the gracious residential atmosphere its
` citizens now enjoy, is questioned by none and apparent to all, and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Atlantic Beach, both now
and in generations yet to cchne, will always owe ~~Tilliam S . "Billy"
Hcraell an overwhelmuig debt of gratitude.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Atlantic Eeach,
Florida, that it does, through the authority of its present elected
City Com~m.ssion, hereby attest to the contributions of William S. Howell
and does hereby officially extend the continuing and heartfelt gratitude
of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and says:
"Tf3ANK YOU, BILLY. WE LAVE YOU."
