Resolution No. 25-17RESOLUTION NO. 25-17 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURES OF FUNDS FROM THE TREE CONSERVATION TRUST FUND FOR TREE PLANTINGS AND LANDSCAPING ON PUBLICLY OWNED LANDS AT TWO WELCOME SIGNS WITHIN THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The City Commission -appointed Environmental Stewardship Committee recognizes the importance of Atlantic Beach's tree canopy and the reestablishing of vegetive resources and is committed to its enhancement; and WHEREAS, at its February 12, 2025 meeting, the Environmental Stewardship Committee approved recommending the use of the Tree Conservation Trust Fund for the planting of trees and associated vegetation at the Welcome sign at Atlantic Boulevard and Seminole Road and the Welcome sign at the north end of Mayport Road; and WHEREAS, Section 23-14 of the Code of Ordinances requires that the use and distribution of funds from the Tree Conservation Trust Fund be designated by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Commission approved the use of up to $25,000 for tree plantings and native understory plantings for both of these Welcome signs. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows: SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby approves the use of up to $25,000 from the Tree Conservation Trust Fund for the trees and native understory plants at two Welcome signs on public property. SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute contracts and purchase orders in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions of this resolution. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption. ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach, Florida, 20 day of February 2025. Attest* Donna L.
