A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CHANGE ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC UTILITIES
WATER TREATMENT PLANT #2 PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE
ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on Monday, September 16, 2022, the City Commission awarded Bid No.
2122-15 Water Treatment Plant #1 Upgrades to PBM Constructors; and
WHEREAS, the contractor submitted an original bid of $1,240,000.00 for work consisting
of upgrading water treatment plant #1; and
WHEREAS, the city is now ready to begin the same upgrades to water treatment plant #2;
and
WHEREAS, in a cost and time saving measure, and in keeping the standards of the work
performed at water treatment plant #1, the City desires to use the current contractor, PBM
Constructors, to continue the upgrades to water treatment plant #2, rather than put the project back
out to bid; and
WHEREAS, the contractor agreed to provide a firm, not -to -exceed lump sum price in the
form of a change order in the amount of $4,343,000; and
WHEREAS, the department would reallocate $1,300,000 from Project PU2312 (WTP #2
Modernization and Construction) and $2,300,000 from Project PU2508 (500K Gallon Ground
Storage Tank), along with $743,000 allocated in Ordinance No. 20-25-179 to fund the change
order, and combine the funds into the ongoing Project PU2110 (Water Treatment Plant Upgrades);
and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes funding the change order for the
Public Utilities Project PU2110 in the amount of $4,343,000 and
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the
change order with PBM Constructors and approve a purchase order in the amount of $4,343,000.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
