A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
APPROVING THE PLAZA SIDEWALK PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE ORDERS IN
ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, City staff has identified the sidewalk along Plaza, from the intersection at Seminole
Road to the intersection at Mayport Road, as a priority project due to its deteriorated condition; and
WHEREAS, Jax Utilities Management, Inc. has a current contract with the City of Jacksonville,
Contract #70280-23, that the City of Atlantic Beach can piggyback on to complete this project; and
WHEREAS, the project scope of work is to complete the renovations to the sidewalk along
Plaza, including replacing the existing sidewalk along Russell Park with a six-foot sidewalk to match
the width of the walking track around the park. Additionally, it will relocate the crosswalk at Parkside
Drive to the east side of the intersection as recommended in the draft Safety Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the project, $131,701.38, can be funded from the Public Works
Infrastructure account #300-5002-541-6300, under Project PW2346 "Sidewalks Throughout City."
There is currently $132,000.00 budgeted under this project code for FY2025.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby approves the Plaza Sidewalk Project.
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the Contract
with Jax Utilities Management, Inc. and approve a Purchase Order to said vendor in the amount of
$131,701.38.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
