1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Committee member Hickam called the meeting to order at 6:09pm.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approve minutes of the April 8, 2025 Arts, Recreation, and Culture Committee
meeting.
Approval of minutes were tabled for the next meeting due to number of committee
members present.
3. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS/PUBLIC COMMENTS
Sarah Boren spoke regarding collaboration opportunities between ESC and ARCC. She
mentioned working together on shared committee priorities, and highlighted results of the
Commission priority -setting meeting.
4. ONGOING BUSINESS
A. Turtle Crawl Update
Mr. Leslie provided an update to the committee regarding timeline for the turtles. A
UNF site visit was conducted in early May to see the progress with the artist. The
turtles are anticipated to be finished and installed in late 2025. Installation was also
discussed to ensure the turtles would be secured and anchored into concrete.
B. First Night Planning
The committee discussed and brainstormed ideas for First Night. No action was taken
and was tabled for next meeting, when more committee members can contribute.

A. Grant Application Opens June 16
Mr. Leslie went over the upcoming grant timeline and shared the brochure that has
been posted to the website. All previous grantees have been notified via email and
social media posts have gone out.

There being no further business, Member Hickam adjourned the meeting at 6:48 p.m.
