A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC
BEACH, FLORIDA, NAMING THE NEWLY ACQUIRED BUILDING AT 100 WEST
FIRST STREET IN ATLANTIC BEACH "MARSH OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER"
IN HONOR OF THE MARSH OAKS COMMUNITY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the unique
neighborhoods and natural beauty that define the character of our community; and
WHEREAS, the area known as Marsh Oaks is distinguished by its lush tree canopy, rich biodiversity,
and proximity to the coastal marshes, making it a cherished and picturesque part of the city; and
WHEREAS, the name Marsh Oaks reflects both the natural elegance of the live oaks that grace the
community and the ecological importance of the nearby marshlands; and
WHEREAS, the City has acquired the building at 100 West First Street and is transforming the
building into a community center to serve as gathering place for residents, to foster civic engagement, and to
support recreational and cultural activities; further, the community center will be an integral complement to
Beaches Veterans Memorial Park and serve the surrounding military families; and
WHEREAS, the City has adhered to its Parks, Recreations Area and Building Naming Policy, and the
Arts, Recreation, Culture Committee voted on July 22, 2025, to recommend naming the building located at
100 West First Street Marsh Oaks Community Center.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. In recognition of the Marsh Oaks community, the City Commission hereby adopts the
name Marsh Oaks Community Center for the building located at 100 West First Street.
SECTION 2. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
