A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH AUTHORIZING
THE EXECUTION OF A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN THE ATLANTIC BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT AND
PANAMA CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT RELATED TO TRAFFIC AND
CRIMINAL SOFTWARE SYSTEM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO SIGN THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDNING IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Police Department utilizes a computerized records system for traffic and
other reports, the Traffic and Criminal Software System; and
WHEREAS, this system is maintained by Florida State University with servers housed at
the Panama City Police Department and provided for use at no cost; and
WHEREAS, the use of this system requires compliance with federal and state Criminal
Justice Information Systems (CJIS) rules and regulations; and
WHEREAS, CJIS rules and regulations require a memorandum of understanding between
agencies utilizing this system; and
WHEREAS, updates to CJIS rules require an updated memorandum of understanding be
executed between the Atlantic Beach Police Department and the Panama City Police Department.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission authorizes the City Manager or his designee to execute
and sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the Atlantic Beach Police Department and
Panama City Police Department to fulfill the provision of this resolution.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
