A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
APPROVING THE EAST COAST DRIVE EMERGENCY ORANGEBURG PIPE
REPLACEMENT PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE ORDERS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, City staff were alerted to a sinkhole that had formed on the 1300 block of East
Coast Drive. After further inspection, it was determined that the 10 -inch Orangeburg pipe in the area
has collapsed and needs to be replaced; and
WHEREAS, the City has an existing contract for Utility Contractor Services (Bid No. 2021-04)
with Gruhn May, Inc., who provided an estimate for repairs; and
WHEREAS, the estimate includes replacing approximately 220 linear feet of Orangeburg pipe
with 10 -inch PVC piping, driveway replacement, and sod restoration for $37,739.50; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the project can be funded from the Stormwater Drainage Fund
account #470-0000-538.34-00 where there is currently $436,966.08 budgeted in this account for
FY2026; and
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby approves the East Coast Drive Orangeburg Pipe
Replacement Project;
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute the Contract
with Gruhn May, Inc. and approve a Purchase Order to said vendor in the amount of $37,739.50;
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
