A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE $20,000 IN
FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 GRANT FUNDING FOR ARTISTIC,
RECREATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMS, EVENTS AND
PROJECTS AT LOCAL SCHOOLS UTILIZING FUNDS BUDGETED IN
ACCOUNT NO. 001-6010-572-82-00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY CONTRACTS AND PURCHASE
ORDER(S) IN ACCORDANCE WITH AND AS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article I, Section 2-2, of the City of Atlantic Beach
Code of Ordinances, the City "may contribute city funds or other support to artistic, recreational,
or cultural programs, events or projects which benefit the residents of Atlantic Beach," and
establishes guidelines, accordingly; and
WHEREAS, the Arts, Recreation and Culture Committee (ARCC) is tasked with
reviewing grant funding requests and making recommendations to the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, ARCC followed its application guidelines for grant requests, reviewed the
requests, and made funding recommendations to the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, at a workshop on October 27, 2025, the City Commission deliberated on
the matter of funding school programming and unanimously voted to allocate $20,000 in grant
funding as follows: $7,500 for the Atlantic Beach Elementary School STEAM program; $7,500
combined for the Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School Shark Bites and Robotics programs,
the division of which will be determined by the school administration; and $5,000 to the Fletcher
High School Band, contingent upon the band receiving at least $5,000 in funding from the City
of Neptune Beach or City of Jacksonville Beach, or both.
WHEREAS, funds for this purpose are allocated in Account No. 001-6010-572-82-00.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic
Beach as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to provide
Fiscal Year 2025-26 grants for the following school programs, utilizing funds allocated in
Account No. 001-6010-572-82-00:
• $7,500 for Atlantic Beach Elementary School STEAM program
• $7,500 combined for Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School Shark Bites and Robotics
programs, the division of which will be determined by the school administration.
• $5,000 to the Fletcher High School Band, contingent upon the band receiving at least
$5,000 in funding from the City of Neptune Beach or City of Jacksonville Beach, or both.

SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute any contracts and
purchase orders in accordance with and as necessary to effectuate the provisions of this
Resolution.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
