The trees pose an unnecessary risk to person or property. The first Magnolia is suffering from root and collar rot. This is evident by the black and green, discoloration on the trunk. There are also holes in the trunk where rot can be seen on the inside of the tree. The tree is growing close enough to the house to be hazardous. The only way to reduce the risk of danger to the property is to remove the tree. The second Magnolia is actually three smaller magnolia trees that grew together at the base. The roots of the three trunks have grown together and created a large mound. The roots are protruding from the ground and you can see the roots growing in a circle around the trees stump. This is a condition known as girdling roots. This weakens the trees by not allowing nutrients and water to properly feed the tree. The canopies on the trees are very thin and the trunks are very discolored. These are all signs of root problems. The cluster of trees are growing right next to the house. The trees are hazardous to the surrounding area and the only way to reduce the risk of danger to the property is to remove the tree.
