A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) FOR EXECUTIVE SEARCH FIRM
SERVICES FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A CITY MANAGER;
PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY TO ADVERTISE; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Atlantic Beach currently has a vacancy in the position of City
Manager; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to conduct a professional and comprehensive
national recruitment process to identify the most qualified candidates; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that engaging an executive search firm with
expertise in municipal recruitment will assist in attracting qualified candidates, conducting
applicant screening, and working with a citizen advisory committee and ultimately providing
recommendations to the Commission; and
WHEREAS, funding is available within the current budget from salary lapse savings
resulting from the vacancy to support recruitment expenses for a consultant search firm; and
WHEREAS, issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) is the appropriate procurement
method to solicit competitive proposals from qualified executive search firm consultants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA, that
SECTION 1. AUTHORIZATION.
The City Commission hereby authorizes staff to finalize draft RFP, issue, and advertise a Request
for Proposals (RFP) for executive search firm services to assist in the recruitment of candidates
for the position of City Manager.
SECTION 2. EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATION.
Staff is authorized to receive proposals, conduct evaluations consistent with City procurement
procedures, and present a recommendation for Commission approval.
SECTION 3: FUNDING
Funding for recruitment services shall be drawn from available salary lapse savings as
identified by Finance.
