Hello Kevin, Amanda, and Jordan,
I hope 2026 is off to a good start for all of you. For me, 2026 is shaping up to be very busy. I’m helping my son and daughter-in-
law with babysitting my granddaughter while they work. She’s an active toddler and wow, I've forgotten what that’s like! Also, my
aging out-of-town parents are needing more attention from me and I want to be able to provide that. On a relaxing note, my
husband has arranged for some fun travel, which looks like I will be missing quite a few of the scheduled ARCC meetings, including
the next two. I don’t think that’s fair to the rest of the committee or to the city, therefore, I’ll be stepping down from ARCC. I would
like my last day to be March 30, 2026. As I said I will not be at the next two meetings, but will be available to help with the
transition to a new chair. In the future, while I will not be directly participating in ARCC as a committee member, I will continue to
volunteer for related events and programming as I can. Certainly, I’m always available to you if you have any questions or need
something specific.
Meanwhile, there are a few things that should be on your radar:
1) I noticed that attendance at our meetings isn’t as robust as it has been in the past. I know Jordan has sent everyone calendar
invites for the whole year, and he reminds everyone of the meeting on the day of, but perhaps a reminder a couple days prior with
the agenda attached.
2) This is the time of the year that we revisit our priorities. In the past we’ve done a special workshop to discuss and formulate,
but last year we were very efficient and handled this during our regularly scheduled meeting. To do this you’ll probably want to
send a copy of last year’s priorities (attached) and a copy of the big picture wish list we workshopped two years ago (also
attached). Now that Marsh Oaks Community Center is nearing completion, we’ll be able to really dig in to this list specifically
regarding adult programming.
To that end, I’d like to talk about the community garden idea (Item #8 of our Big Picture Ideas). As you know, this project was
tabled at the end of the year for various reasons. The donor who has offered to fund this project is ready to reengage. At the
February 23 Commission Meeting she will formally make the announcement of her donation. She has asked that I also speak on
behalf of ARCC about the community engagement aspect of this project. I’ll tell them that this was one of our initiatives for the
new community center and explain the plan. She’s engaged a landscape person knowledgeable and passionate about community
gardens. He’s worked up a clean design that will provide for 36 plots, 30 of which will available for individual residents, and six for
the community in general. I think it’s important that we meet as soon as possible to discuss this project and its impact on the
department, if any.
Thank you so much for all you do for our community to make it a fun place to live and work. I have really enjoyed my participation
over the years and while I am not finishing out my term, I feel good about the impact I’ve had. It’s nice to be able to make a
difference.
Very best always,
Lisa Goodrich
