On October 10 2025,I was called upon to assess a Hickory tree located in the backyard, which overhangs the
neighbor's driveway and parking area. The tree has a diameter at breast height of 26 inches,a crown spread of
40 feet,and a height Of 70 feet,with a significant lean toward the neighbor's house at 192'7 Selva Marina Drive.
During my evaluation,I observed two primary branches that had failed,a common occurrence in mature
Hickory trees.Once Hickory trees reach maturity, they tend to become brittle.I conducted a sound check on
the tree, which revealed slight indications of internal rot.I would consider that to be a significant load at the
site of the rot with the lean of this tree.As this tree is shared property,I also discussed with Mr.Dennis Lang,
the neighbor, who expressed concerns about the Hickory tree.He informed me that the Hickory nuts have
become a nuisance by falling onto his driveway at night, causing him to slip.Based on my experience as an
arborist,I have encountered similar situations before and believe that Hickory trees are best situated in open
fields rather than near walkways, driveways,or parking areas.I therefore recommend the removal of this tree,
as it poses a moderate to high risk.
Sincerely,
