A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA,
DESIGNATING THREE LIVE OAK TREES THAT MEASURE FIFTY-
ONE, FOURTY-ONE AND THIRTY -THREE-INCH DIAMETER AT 2210
OCEANWALK DR W.; ONE LIVE OAK TREE THAT MEASURES
FOURTY INCH DIAMETER AT 1880 LIVE OAK LN.; THREE LIVE OAK
TREES THAT MEASURE THIRTY, THIRTY-SIX AND THIRTY -SIX-
INCH DIAMETER AT 1885 LIVE OAK LN.; ONE LIVE OAK TREE THAT
MEASURES FIFTY -INCH DIAMETER AT 1800 SEVILLA RD. AS A
HERITAGE TREES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Atlantic Beach's tree canopy beautifies our community and improves the lives of
our citizens and visitors by bringing nature into our urban environment and preserving environmental
sanctuaries that provide opportunities for connection with the natural world; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach desires to be a good steward of
the City's tree canopy, particularly trees that possess exceptional size, age, character, or other qualities
of physical or historical significance; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has the authority to designate individual trees as Heritage
Trees pursuant to Section 23-41(a) of the Atlantic Beach Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, Heritage Tree designation is voluntary and provides additional protection to
designated trees, including an increased mitigation ratio if a designated tree is removed in accordance
with the City Code; and
WHEREAS, three live oak trees located at 2210 Oceanwalk Dr. W., measuring approximately
51, 41, and 33 inches in diameter, have been nominated for Heritage Tree designation by the property
owner; and
WHEREAS, one live oak tree located at 1880 Live Oak Ln., measuring approximately 40 inches
in diameter, has been nominated for Heritage Tree designation; and
WHEREAS, three live oak trees located at 1885 Live Oak Ln., measuring approximately 30, 36,
and 36 inches in diameter, have been nominated for Heritage Tree designation; and
WHEREAS, one live oak tree located at 1800 Sevilla Rd., measuring approximately 50 inches
in diameter, has been nominated for Heritage Tree designation; and
WHEREAS, the nominated live oak trees are significant specimens due to their size, age, and
contribution to the City's tree canopy and, based on available information, some of the trees are estimated
to be approximately 160 to 250 years old; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the designation of these eight live oak trees as
Heritage Trees is consistent with the City's interest in preserving significant trees and protecting the
character and natural resources of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Commission of the City of Atlantic Beach:
SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby designates the following live oak trees as private
Heritage Trees:
A. Three live oak trees measuring approximately 51, 41, and 33 inches in diameter, located at
2210 Oceanwalk Dr. W.;
B. One live oak tree measuring approximately 40 inches in diameter, located at 1880 Live Oak
Ln.;
C. Three live oak trees measuring approximately 30, 36, and 36 inches in diameter, located at
1885 Live Oak Ln.; and
D. One live oak tree measuring approximately 50 inches in diameter, located at 1800 Sevilla Rd.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City of Atlantic Beach, on this 14 da of September 2026.
