12-14-76 v MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC
BEACH ADVISORY PLANNING BOARD HELD AT
THE CITY HALL ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 14,
1976, AT 8: 00 PM
PRESENT: John F. Andresen, Chairman
Dick Rigsbee
Jan Tierney
Alan C. Jensen, Commissioner
Harold E. Mullins
AND: R. C . Vogel, City Manager
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Andresen who advised that
he had called the Planning Board into special session for the
purpose of discussing goals and objectives for the ensuing year
as well as for a "rap" session on the Comprehensive Plan as pre-
pared by Milo Smith & Associates .
It was pointed out that the Planning Board members should study
the Comprehensive Plan because the next order of business should
be to recommend to the City Commission that a Public Hearing be
held by its body for the purpose of officially adopting, modifying,
or rejecting the Plan.
It was also suggested that the members become familiar with the
state guidelines so that a determination can be made as to the
advisability of recommending that a planner be consulted for
the purpose of updating our plans to comply with state guidelines.
The letter from Kellum, Patterson and Bell was presented and it
was suggested that we invite Mr. Bell for a session with the
Planning Board on Tuesday, December 21, 1976, if possible. The
subject of the letter was a proposed preapplication for block
grants through the HUD area office. It was proposed that the
subject of reference to the City Commission be consummated next
Tuesday night after a discussion with the planners .
A variety of subjects were discussed including zoning, development
of utilities and opening up of areas for development within the
City west of Mayport Road. It was agreed that it was very
important that proper control be exercised in order that an orderly
development may be achieved.
There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting
adjourned.
