11-02-76 v SPECIAL CALL MEETING
ATLANTIC BEACH ADVISORY PLANNING BOARD
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1976, 8: 00 P .M.
PRESENT: R. L. Wardrep - Chairman
Dick Rigsbee
John F. Andresen
AND: R. C . Vogel, City Manager
ABSENT: Jan Tierney
Alan C. Jensen
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wardrep. He advised
that the Planning Board was called into special session to consi-
der a referral from the Board of Adjustments concerning a side
line restriction on a 50-foot lot zoned Residential AA, and a
referral from the City Commission concerning dispensing of gaso-
line within a Business A zone.
It was pointed out that the side line restriction of 10 feet on
a 50-foot lot did not serve any useful purpose when balanced with
the fact that the apparent intent of this restriction would
normally be applicable to a lot that was in excess of 75 feet.
After a lengthy discussion, it was moved, seconded and passed
that the Board would recommend to the City Commission that an
ordinance change be made that would exclude all lots within the
Residence AA zone that have a platted frontage of less than 60 feet,
in which case the side line set back is recommended to be 71/2 feet
each. All other provisions remain the same. The City Manager was
requested to prepare and introduce an ordinance that would accomplish
the above.
Regarding the referral from the City Commission, it was pointed out
that there is a difference between a service station and a filling
station dispensing gasoline only from a self-service pump. After
a lengthy discussion, it was determined that a facility that dis-
penses gasoline only and no other services to vehicles did not
appreciably depreciate the integrity of a Business A zone and did,
in fact, provide a product at bargain prices. The Board moved,
seconded, and passed that the City Manager be requested to prepare
an ordinance to affect this change and present it to the City
Commission.
Mr. Wardrep stated that upon the advice of his physician that it
would be necessary for him to retire from the Advisory Planning Board.
He stated that he was also giving up the majority of his extra-
curricular activities so that his energy could be conserved for his
business only. He stated that time spent with the Board had been

very gratifying and while he was retiring from active service
he planned to keep abreast of all civic activities within
"his City" . By copy of the minutes to the City Commission, he
wished to convey his resignation.
There being no further business, the Chairman declared the
meeting adjourned.
