Dear Mayor Wolfson and City Commissioners:
First and foremost, I want to personally thank the Mayor, Commissioners and
City Staff for supporting MarshFest 06 and for sharing in the huge success of this event.
As you all know, the outreach of the event extended beyond all expectations, which
would not have occurred without assistance from the City, its staff, and volunteers.
I have attached the financial report from IVlarshFest 06 for your review. As you
will see, donations received were amazing (we even had a single donation of $500.00
from an Atlantic Beach citizen). These funds were raised through raffles tickets for
prizes, including a grand prize of a kayak donated by Aqua East, t-shirt sales, and general
donations. We would like to retain as much of these monies toward the purchase of the
Buckman-Pritchard lands.
To that end, we would respectfully request the City consider supplementing its
,,~ original funding to include the additional expenses as outlined in the financial report.
The Marsh Preservation Society anticipates organizing future fund-raising events to help
the City acquire this pristine tract of ]and which, as Mayor Wolfson has so often said,
would add another crown jewel to our beaches area
