BACKGROUND: As of May 31, 2007 the contract with our waste hauler will expire.
The City has opened bids and has selected the existing hauler to
negotiate a new contract with based on their proposal. As
discussed in a recent workshop with the commission, the City is
prepared to enter into a new seven year contract to go into effect
on June 1, 2007. This ordinance is necessary to fund the cost of
the new contract being negotiated for the remainder of the 2007
fiscal year.
The most significant change in service is the reduction of service
days from twice a week to once a week for residential garbage
`""' collection. Service with a semi automated system using 96 gallon
toters to be provided to all residents is planned.
BUDGET: This ordinance will provide for the funding of the additional costs
of the new contract. The ordinance also provides a revenue budget
for the estimated charges for those services. A rate ordinance will
follow in a subsequent meeting with the necessary increases
needed to recover the City's costs.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Ordinance No. 20-07-83
