WORKSHOP MEETING

Mayor Meserve called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting was to interview the final three candidates for the position of
City Clerk.
The following applicants were interviewed for the position: Margaret DeGennaro,
Athena Shearer and Donna Bussey. Mayor Meserve introduced the Commissioners and
himself to each candidate and explained the interviewing process that would be followed.
He also explained the duties and responsibilities of the City Clerk.
The employment interviews of the three candidates were conducted. At the completion
of the interviews the Mayor distributed a form to rank the three candidates, and the
Commissioners ranked the candidates using a point system. Commissioner Beaver, who
sat on the City Clerk Selection Committee, explained the procedure to screen the initial
seventy-nine applicants for the position.
The Mayor announced the results as follows: (1) Donna Bussey, (2) Margaret
DeGennaro, and (3) Athena Shearer.
Donna Bussey's qualifications were discussed with the Human Resource Director and
City Manager. After a complete discussion, it was the consensus of the Commissioners
to offer the position of City Clerk to Ms. Bussey. The City Manager was directed to
negotiate a contract with her, with a resolution of appointment to be approved at the next
commission meeting.
It was requested that letters be sent to the other two applicants thanking them for their
participation in the selection process.
