Agenda Item: Award Beach Cleaning Annual Contract Bid No. 0607-13 to
Beachcombers, Inc. in the amount of $31,346.80

Background: On July 11, 2007, bids were opened for Beach Cleaning in
Atlantic Beach fora 12-month period. Only one company,
Beachcombers, submitted a bid. Over the past few years,
Beachcombers has provided the City with Beach Cleaning
Services. They have demonstrated excellent professionalism
and knowledge in the area of beach maintenance and care.
Beachcombers bid came in at $41,346.80, which is to clean the
beach 4 days a week during the winter and 7 days during the
other seasons. During the budget discussions, the City
Commission discussed moving to 4 day a week cleaning
throughout the year, which will start October 1St and will reduce
the bid $10,000. Staff recommendation reflects the reduction in
service and cost.
Budget: Staff recommends account number 001-6020-572-3400 (Park
Maintenance-Other Contractual Services). Pending the approval
of the 2007-2008 budget.
Recommendation: Award Beach Cleaning Contract to Beachcombers, Inc. in the
amount of $31,346.80 for cleaning the beach four days a week.
