News racks; Several months ago, the City Commission considered adoption of an ordinance
which would regulate the placement of private news racks on public right-of--ways in Atlantic
Beach. In response to that proposal, a consortium of private news providers approached the City
with the request to be allowed to put in their own news racks voluntarily in lieu of the City
Commission adopting an ordinance requiring them to do so. The first of those news racks has
now been installed in the Town Center area on Ocean Street adjacent to the Ragtime Restaurant.
We have also been advised that the second installation of news racks will be at the Adele Grage
Cultural Center.
