Draft Min Election Meeting 10-2-07MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ELECTION MEETING OF ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION HELD IN THE COMMISSION CHAMBERS, 800 SEMINOLE ROAD, ATLANTIC BEACH, ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2007 Immediately preceding the meeting, representatives of the office of the Duval County Supervisor of Elections, witnessed by Commissioners and city staff, tabulated and verified the count of the votes cast. The Commission Meeting was called to order at 8:45 p.m. by Mayor Wolfson. Present, in addition to the Mayor, were Mayor Pro Tem Waters, Commissioner Borno and Commissioner Simmons. Also present were City Attorney Alan Jensen, City Manager Jim Hanson and City Clerk Donna Bussey. 1. Canvass the results of the municipal election and adopt Resolution No. 07-09 declaring the results thereof. City Clerk Bussey read the official results by totals and percentages, which included absentee ballots, provisional ballots and unscanned ballots. The Mayor presented in full, in writing, Resolution No. 07-09, A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION OF THE CITY OF ATLANTIC BEACH, HELD ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2007 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING AMAYOR-COMMISSIONER AND TWO COMMISSIONERS FOR SEATS 2 AND 3. Commissioner Borno moved for adoption of the Resolution No. 07-09. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Waters. Commissioner Simmons asked to see the Seat 2 precinct results before voting, stating there were problems in Precinct 13H. At Mayor Wolfson's request, Supervisor of Elections, Jerry Holland, read the results for Seat 2 in Precinct 13H. The resolution was unanimously approved. Certification of the official results of said election is attached hereto and is as follows: Seat 1 Mayor /Commissioner: John Meserve elected (unopposed, 2 years) Seat 2 Commissioner: John Fletcher elected (4 years) Seat 3 Commissioner: Run off required between Faul Parsons and Sylvia Simmons (Run-off will be on October 16, 2007) Both the Districting Referendum (Amendment 1) and the Election Schedule Referendum (Amendment 2) passed.
