SUBJECT: Follow-up eport
Board Member Review Committee Meetings Scheduled; Now that Commissioner Borno has
been appointed to the Board Member Review Committee (BMRC), and because four positions
will be open on the Community Development Boazd as of 12/31/07, the BMRC has scheduled to
meet to consider candidates for the openings. At the time of this writing, there aze 17
applications for the Community Development Board. Consequently, two meetings have been
scheduled for the BMRC. They will be on Monday, December 3rd and Tuesday, December 4th.
Both meetings will be at 5:00 pm and are open to the public.
Commission Workshop; A workshop is scheduled for the City Commission on Tuesday,
December 11 beginning at 5:00 pm. The first subject will be to discuss the makeup and
procedures for the Board Member Review Committee. A second subject will be the possibility
of water withdrawals from the St. Johns River. Kirby Green, Executive Director of the St. Johns
River Water Management District, will make a 30 minute presentation at that workshop. The
Animal Control ordinance and collection procedures were raised as an additional subject for
workshop deliberation. Staff requests that this be held until a later date. David Thompson should
be in that workshop but is scheduled to teach a class at UNF on that evening. It will also take a
little longer for the staff to research some issues related to the Animal Control ordinance and
collection and be ready to make recommendations.
Paid Parking at the Sea Turtle Inn; A citizen complained at the last commission meeting that
the Sea Turtle Inn was charging guests for parking in their parking lots, thereby adding further
congestion to the public parking spaces in the Town Center area. Representatives of the Sea
Turtle Inn have since advised that they only chazge for valet parking. Guests may pazk in the
Sea Turtle lot for no additional charge.
Other Follow-up Items from 11/13/07 Commission Meeting; Two other items were brought
up at the last city commission meeting that will be reported back at future dates. These include
preparation of an ordinance relating to partially demolished or constructed buildings and an
ordinance to allow for an optional 2"d day/ week residential garbage pick-up.
