12-07-87 v MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF ATLANTIC BEACH,Fl. HELD AT CITY HALL ON DECEMBER 7, 1987 AT 2:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Howell at 2:00 p.m. for the purpose
of receiving sealed proposals to furnish and install a communications tower
at the new Public Safety Building. Those present were Mayor William S. Howell;
Commissioners Glenn A. Edwards and Alan Jensen; City Manager Richard C.Fellows;
Police Chief David Thompson, and City Clerk Adelaide Tucker.
Mayor Howell announced the previous low bidder had initially agreed to guarantee
the bid he was awarded, but later declined.
Commissioner Edwards moved to reject all former bids for a communication tower
at the new Public Safety Building. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Jensen and carried unanimously.
1. Receipt of sealed proposals to furnish and install communications tower at
the new Public Safety Building.
The following bids were received and opened:
1. One 70' tower - Angle Tower Company,
Gainesville, Florida $3,625.00
2. One 60' tower/overall 70'- Temco Tower Company,
Jacksonville, Florida $3,000.00
3. One 70' tower - Adcox Construction Co. ,
Jacksonville, Florida $7,004.00
Bid tabulation is attached hereto and made a part thereof.

A lengthy discussion on the bids followed.
Commissioner Edwards moved to turn the bids over to the City Manager and
himself to look into the two low bids, Temco Tower Co. and Angle Tower Co. If
Tempco's bid is, in fact, an acceptable bid as to the manner in which it will be
installed, height, etc. , then the bid should be awarded to Tempco. Otherwise
the bid should be awarded to Angle Tower Co. ; provided that both bids meet the
specifications in the judgment of the Committee. The motion was seconded by
Commissioner Jensen and carried unanimously.
There being no other business to come before the Commission, the Mayor declared
the meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
