Adjourn ,, ITT^t ) _ ':i Ai ill MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COMMISSION HELD AT CITY HALL ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1972, AT 8:00 P.M. PRESENT: William S. Howell, Mayor-Commissioner L. W. Minton, Jr. F. W. Fogg D. W. Speed, Commissioners AND R. C. Vogel, City Manager Oliver C. Ball, City Attorney Adele S. Grage, City Clerk ABSENT: R. R. Rosborough, II, Out of the City The meeting was called to order by Mayor-Commissioner, Mr. Howell. The invocation was given by Commissioner Minton, followed by the pledge to the flag. The minutes of the meeting of October 23, 1972, were approved as written upon motion of Commissioner Minton, seconded by Commissioner Speed and carried. S, Mayor Howell read a letter from Mr. Fred Le Ahern stating that Mr. Milton Lionheart has purchased 375 feet on the oceanfront and approximately 300 feet north of 20th Street in the City of Jackson- ville, north of the Atlantic Beach City limits and is requesting he be allowed to hook into the City sewer system. After discussion, the City Commission approved Mr. Ahern' s request provided he re- serve gallonage in-put allotment by paying the connection charges and the cost of maintenance. Correspondence was read from Mr. Charles Patterson in which he had submitted a check in the amount of $500.00 payable to the City of Atlantic Beach which he was posting with the City for the purpose of fencing Lots 1 and 2, Block 16 Royal Palms Subdivision in order for construction to begin on Lots 3 through 11, Block 16 Royal Palms Subdivision. The check to be used should Pic N' Save fail to erect fence. After lengthly discussion, it was moved by Commissioner Minton, seconded by Commissioner Fogg and carried that if the fence is not constructed by January 1, 1973, the City will use all or any part of the $500.00 that Mr. Patterson has posted with the City for construction. .4- .9 ' • MINUTES NOVEMBER 13, 1972 PAGE TWO 4111/ Mr. Vogel, City Manager, announced that the City has received a letter from Reliance Insurance Company wanting assurance that the City will pay the outstanding balances and retainages for the first addition to the Sewage Treatment Facilities. Mayor Howell suggested that the City Attorney clarify this and write the proper type letter. It was moved by Commissioner Speed, seconded by Commissioner Fogg and carried that the City Attorney advise Reliance Insurance Com- pany clarifying exactly what outstanding balance the City of Atlantic Beach will pay. There were no objection from the City Commission to call for bids on the following items: A. Pick-up Truck for Public Works B. Insurance (1) Workmen' s Compensation (2) Liability, Fire, Bonds, etc. C. Petroleum Products Mrs. Adele Grage, City Clerk, announced that November 14, 1972 will be the last day to pay water bills, cut-off will be November 15, 1972. 0410 Mr. Vogel stated that all the Commissioners had received the minutes of the October 17, 1972 meeting of the Advisory Planning Board. Mr. Hilliard reported that in the Donner Subdivision they have had two clean-ups and that the easement that was used by traffic from the Big L has been blocked. Mr. Vogel announced that Mayor Howell has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Florida League of Cities. Commissioner Fogg asked to be informed as to the status of the ciga- rette tax. Mr. Vogel stated that the cigarette tax will be coming from the City of Jacksonville and included in the revenue sharing payments.
