Item 3AAGENDA ITEM # 3A JANUARY 11, 2010 January 4, 2010 MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission FROM: Jim Hanso -., rt'ityr° r SUBJECT: Follow-up port Parking Complaint on Sherry Dr. at 5th Street; At the November 9, 2000 commission meeting, a citizen complained about a hazazd created by parking on Sherry Dr. close to the intersection with 5th Street. The Police Department investigated and asked the owner of the lot at the intersection to trim back a hedge to improve visibility. The Police Department has now also determined that a no pazking sign should be installed. That sign should be in place by the time of the city commission meeting on January 11th. Cost to run the Adele Grape Center; The City Commission asked what the City's cost was to run the Adele Grage Center at the last regular meeting during a discussion on fees for use. Expenses include an estimated 90 percent of the cost of the Recreation Director and Administrative Assistant, insurance, utilities, repair and maintenance, lawn care and a small amount of staffing from the Public Works Department. Total expenses are estimated at $179,946 for the year. The total annual income from rentals at the Adele Grage Center amounted to $16,569.62 for 2009. Consequently, the amount paid for rentals under the current rate structure is less than 10 percent of the cost of running the programs at that Center. The programs include both those that aze open to the public (like ABET plays) as well as those that aze not open to the public like private parties.
