MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH CITY COM-
MISSION HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON MONDAY , AUGUST 24 , 1970

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner ,
Mr . Howell .
The invocation was given by Commissioner R. R. Rosborough.
The minutes of the meeting of August 10 , 1970 , were approved
as written upon motion of Mr . Longo , seconded by Mr. Johansen.
Mr . Howell recognized visitors and called for any business
from the floor not on the Agenda.
Mr. George Bull came forward and stated that in line with a
letter of May 7th to the Commission , they had acquired four
lets that makes possible .reel atti ng of 175 lots back to
acreage . They have the necessary surveying done and the
plat . is prepared for the City Commission ' s approval . It is
signed by the owner and a certificate from the surveyor is
attached hereto . Mr. Bull stated that since this was not on
the Agenda for this evening ' s meeting, if the Commissioners
felt they could not handle it without further perusal of
said materials , he will be willing to put it on the agenda for
the next regularly scheduled meeting. Mayor Howell stated
that since this was not on the Agenda and was not deemed to be
of an emergency nature , he agreed that it be put aside and
put on the Agenda for the next meeting.
There were no communications .
Committeeman Rosborough reported that regarding the Par?-. Land
Acquisition , he , Commissioner Minton , City Manager Vogel , and
Mayor Howell , and George Bull had met on this subject . They
received proposals from Roy Smith and Associates and from
Alvin. Register , for appraising; of this property. Roy Smith' s
proposal was $1100 . plus $200. a day in court in case of con-
demnation proceedings and Alvin Register ' s was $450 . plus the
$200 . a day for court in case of condemnation . A discussion
following this report covered the difference in the two pro-
posals and a lady from the audience asked how come they were

receiving bids from only two appraisers . It was pointed out
to her that there were three appraisers In Atlantic Beach, two
of whom we had bids from and the third was Richard Hamilton ,
and receiving a 1214 from him would be creating a conflict in
interest . It was moved by Commissioner rosborough and seconded
by Commissioner Longo , and passed unanimously , that they engage
Mr . Register to ma`..e an appraisal of the property and come bac'
z
with his findings .
There were no reports from the Police and Fire Departments , or
the Public Works Superintendent .

Commissioner Rosborough commented it might be a nice gesture
to write a letter tc each of their families informing them
that their names were
to be affixed to the Honor Roll .
