Board Member Review Committee Meeting
July 9, 2009
Call to order
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Mike Borno at 5:00 pm. Those in attendance were Mayor Pro Tem Mike Borno (Chairman), City Manager Jim Hanson, Member Jim Smith, Member
Glen Fisher, Code Enforcement Board Vice-Chairman Ron Pendleton, and City Clerk Donna Bartle. In addition, Secretary to the Code Enforcement Board, Susan Gorman was called in at
5:15 pm.
Approval of the minutes of the BMRC meeting of May 14, 2009.
Motion: Approve minutes of the Board Member Review Committee meeting of May 14, 2009.
Moved by Fisher, seconded by Hanson
Motion carried unanimously
Review current members on the Code Enforcement Board whose terms expire on 9/30/2009 and interested in reappointment (2 upcoming vacancies)

Mayor Pro Tem Borno advised there are two terms expiring and both members are interested in reappointment. He explained the candidates listed below are also to be considered and explained
they were previously interviewed. The Committee discussed the attendance record of both members as well as their contributions to the Board. It was determined, after input from Ms.
Gorman, that the attendance record provided to the Committee in their packets was not accurate.
Discuss the candidates (listed below) and the current members that are interested in reappointment (listed above) and make a recommendation.

Jonathan Daughterty
Elizabeth “Betty” Eilers
Maria Mark
The Committee reviewed and discussed each applicant.
The Committee made the following recommendations to fill the two vacancies.
Motion: Recommend reappointing Veda Bernstein to serve on the Code Enforcement Board for an additional term.

Motion carried unanimously
Motion: Recommend reappointing Barbara Weiss to serve on the Code Enforcement Board for an additional term.

Motion carried unanimously
The Committee discussed the need to recommend an additional name for consideration if for some reason the above two members are not reappointed.
Motion: (Alternate Choice) Recommend appointing current alternate Nicholas Dodaro as a regular member and appointing Maria Mark as an alternate to serve on the Code Enforcement Board.

Other Business
Set agenda for next meeting
The Committee agreed to schedule the next meeting for September 10, 2009 at 5:00 pm to address Pension Board of Trustees and Community Development Board vacancies. Mayor Pro Tem Borno
asked the Committee if they wanted to conduct interviews at the September meeting. It was agreed that reappointments would be addressed at that meeting and if there was a need for
new members, then another meeting will be scheduled for interviews. The Committee discussed the list of applicants on file and requested that staff solicit for more by placing an article
in the city newsletter.

There being no other business, the meeting adjourned at 5:45 pm.
