Tho meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Pro-tem,
Mr. Johansen.
Mr. Waggoner advised that he felt that the City should take
definite action as to the furnishing of utilities to . the
apartments proposed for building on the Mayport Road; It
is his opinion that the City should borrow the money, if
necessary, and build these utility lines ourselves. He
is of the opinion that .the Bank would lend the City the
money for this project. Mr. Roberts questioned how finan-
cially strong the backers of this apartment project are, as
he does not think the City should spend-money on utilities
scut the project and it not be finished. It was brought
out that it is FHA insured and even if not finished by these
builders it would be taken over by others and finished. It
was the consensus of opinion that we should get a deposit
from them to cover the gravity line in front of their prop-
erty on Mayport Rd, and that they should be well on the way
to completion before the services are put in. Mr. . Johansen
thinks we should not discourage projects like this. The matter
was discussed at length , following which Mr. Moore moved
that the City provide water service to the property line
of the Atlantic Gardens Apartments , and will also build
sewerage lift station and force mains and have ready for
service when the apartments are ready for occupancy, and
that the developer will deposit with the City the cost of
the gravity sewer line on Mayport Road, • as designed by their "
Engineer, estimated at approximately x5 ,000.00 and also x800.00
for water cut-in, the gravity sewer line to become the property
of the City when completed. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Roberts and carried.
Mr. Waggoner requested that approval be given to pay A.J. Craig
;;;300.00 per month in his capacity as resident inspector on the
Sewer Project instead of the `;260.00 he now receives , as be-
cause of his work with the City the Government has stopped his
Social Security payments. Upon motion of-Mr. Roberts, seconded
by Mr. Moore approval was -given to pay Mr, Craig `J300.00 per
month from thS Sewer Fund.
There being no further business Mr. Joh. . - -n dec ed the meet-
ing adjourned. ' ,O
