12-01-59 v MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
ATLANTIC BEACH, FLORIDA HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON TUESDAY,
DECEMBER 1ST, 1959 AT 8 P.M.
In line with the provisions of the charter of the City 'of Atlantic
Beach, Florida the following Commissioners were sworn into office
by the City Clerk, Adele S. Grage:
Wm. S. Howell, Mayor-Commissioner, Seat #1
Preben Johansen, Seat #2
Charles R. Moore, Seat#4
W. Laney Whitehurst, Seat #5
Absent: J.B. Claiborne, Seat #3
The Commissioners having been duly sworn in took their seats and
the meeting was called to order by the Mayor-Commissioner, Mr.
Howell, who recognized visitors present.
Mayor Howell introduced an Ordinance in writing entitled ° An
Ordinance Requiring Owners of Property to Keep and Maintain the
Same Free of Unreasonable Accumulation of Weeds or Trash, etc. SI
There was a discussion as to the maximum charge item to be set
up in Section 5 of said Ordinance , following which Mr. Johansen
moved that the Ordinance be adopted on first reading setting as
a maximum charge $150.00 per year, seconded by Dr. Whitehurst
and having been duly considered the Mayor put the question thereon
and the vote was:
Aye: Johansen, Moore, Whitehurst, Howell
Nay: None
Whereupon the Mayor declared said motion carried and said Ordi-
nance adopted on first reading. December 14th, 1959 was set as
date for Public Hearing.
The meeting of the Committee covering Sewer Charges was postponed
to December 3rd at 8 P.M.
Dr. Whitehurst advised that our Resolution #59-26 on State Road
#10 was been received very favorably by those he has talked to.
There being no further business the Mayor delcared the meeting
adjourned.
