COUNCIL HELD AT THE TOWN HALL ON MONDAY, MAY 27, 1957 AT
8104 P.M.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Minchew.
Minutes of the regular meeting of May 13, 1957 were approved
as written upon motion of Mr. Carr, seconded by Mr. Wardrep.
The President recognized visitors present and called for any
business from the floor. Ar. Kettrell, operator of the Sand
Bar, requested that the ordinance prohibiting c.aive-in liquor
windows in a business area be repealed. After considerable
discussion by the Council the wetter was taken under advisement .
Mr. Harcourt Bull presented a le .ter from the tutted States
Navy stating that the runways at the Mayport Base were considered
adequate.
The President recognized eight stu.:ients from Fletcher High
School who were attending the Council Meeting as a school
project .
The contract from Hunnicutt and Associates was considered and
Mr. Carr moved that the Mayor and Toen Clerk be authorized to
sign said contract and return to Hunnicutt. and ..ssociates,
which motion was seconded by Mr. Weis and carr'.ed.
Mr. Waggoner reported that work was sarted on the reappraisal
on May 23, 1957 and there are now three employees of Hunnicutt
and Associates working on same.
The President read a letter from Jacksonville Beach stating
thatAtlantic Beach would be charged $2C .00 per month for
the use of the jail, : 50.00 per month for each mobile radio
unit.
Mr. Harcourt Bull reported no progress or Church Road right-
of-way.
Mr. Waggoner reported he was unable to remove scattered pilings
on the beach and was instructed to obtain '.nformation as to %he
cost to have this work done .
Mr. Waggoner reported that 15 copies of the Oharter will be
prepared and it was decided that the _registration books would
be opened from June 17, 1957 to July 17, 195, .
The purchase of new police cars was discussed and Mr. Waggoner
was instructed to obtain bids to replace one or both police cars .
Request by Mr. Art Hicks concerning license reqairement for his
business on Atlantic Boulevard was considered anti he will be
allowed to sell citrus fruits without an additioral license and
on July lst, 1957 he will be required to obtain 4 department
store license .
Hospitalization Insurance with payroll deductions vas discussed
and Mr. Carr and Mr. Aoweil were appointed to inves%igate the
. best plan available .
It was decided that the next regular council meeting till be
held Tuesday, June 11, 'x:957 because the Fletcher High school
graduation will be held on June 10.

Permission was granted for Mr. Waggoner to attend the banquet
in connection with the short course in Gainesville on Wednesday.
May 29, 1957.
Mr. Wardrep suggested that the City of Jacksonville be approached
with the idea of lighting the soft ball field and tennis court .
Mayor Reid is to investigate this matter.
Mr. Harcourt Bull advised the Council that the west lane of
Sherry Drive, between Seminole Road and 16th Street was being
paved following the same specifications as the other streets
in SelvaMarina #2. Upon motion by Mr. Wardrep, seconded by.
Mr. Weiss, that this project be approved said motion was
carried.
Upon motion of Mr. Wardrep the meeting adjourned from day to
