MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING OF THE ATLANTIC BEACH TOWN
COUNCIL HELD AT TEL TOWN HALL ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 11TH, 1955 AT
8 P.M.

The meeting was called t:; order by the President, Mr. Minchew.
Minutes of the regular meeting of December 14th, 1954 were read
and upon motion of ivir . Carr , seconded by Mr. Thames were approved.
The matter of barricading the beaches was discussed and it was
decided to wait for a full attendance of Council to take action.
Waterworks was next discussed. Mr. George Carrison presented a
schedule of recommended rates which they estimate will produce
$12,960. on basic charges and inaddition they feel the excess
rates will bring in between four and five thousand dollars. He
feels the rates suggested are not excessive, are in line with
other communities , and that a water system should stand on its
own as soon as possible without satbsidizing other funds. There was
discussion and mr. Thames advised that he feels the timing is
good for the people to get the new rates at the same time get the
improved water service with new plant. There was further discussion
and it was brought out that the Rateskmaiimaxxx would have to be
made a part of the Bond Ordinance . Upon motion of Mr. Thames,
seconded by Mr. Adams the following Resolution was adopted :

The basic rates as recommended by the Fiscal Agemt be
approved as follows:

The Town Attorney be instructed to include these rates in the
1=and Ordinance .
Upon motion of Mr. Thames , seconded by Mr. Adams the Town Attorney
was instructed to proceed, to-gether with the Fiscal Agent, to
prepare the Bond Ordinance , Motion carried .
. Upon motion of Mr. Carr, seconded by Mr. Thames the Atlantic National
Bank of Jacksonville was named the depository for the Construction
Funds , and are to be designated in the Bond Ordinance as the Fiscal
Agent Bank. Motion carried.

Mr. Brotchie reported that he had about finished the storm drainage
work, and had made some water extensions .
"ir. Thames , Chairman of the Streets and Highway Committee, reported
that his committee with Mr. Brotchie had gone over the street sit-
uation in Section "H" which was discussed at the last meeting, and
had decided on a few minor operations for that section. Mr. rotchie
advised that he had not done them, but plans to start the 1st of
next week.
The Treasurer ' s report was presented and upon motion of 1°ir. Carr,
seconded by Mr.Thames was approved with the following balances as
of January 1, 1955:
General Fund $19,608.01
Cigarette Tax " 11,601.10
The bills were next studied and upon motion of Mr. Thames , seconded
by Mr. Adams the following were approved for payment:
